In a statement signed by spokesperson James Shalom, the group lauded PLASIEC’s efforts in ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process across the state, despite minor challenges such as the late arrival of materials at some polling units.

Shalom acknowledged that the overall process—from voting to the announcement of results at ward levels—was smooth, orderly, and devoid of major disruptions. The coalition highlighted that key local government areas, including Pankshin, Mangu, Bokkos, Kanam, Jos North, Wase, Kanke, Jos South, Shendam, and Quan’pan, as well as other councils in the three senatorial zones, experienced incident-free elections.

The absence of violence, voter intimidation, or result tampering, the group noted, was a testament to the commitment of local communities, who actively participated in safeguarding their votes to ensure the outcome truly reflected the people’s will.

Additionally, Shalom commended the professionalism and transparency displayed by PLASIEC officials. He praised the commission’s decision to extend voting hours in areas affected by the late arrival of materials, allowing more citizens to participate and further underscoring PLASIEC’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the elections.

The group also acknowledged the contributions of various stakeholders, noting that several key figures, including a former governor, praised PLASIEC for the fairness and transparency of the process. The elections saw a significant turnout of voters across all three senatorial zones, marking a high level of civic engagement.

Furthermore, the observers applauded Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for creating a conducive environment for the elections and equipping PLASIEC with the necessary resources to ensure the polls were conducted according to legal standards.

Shalom emphasized that the 2024 local government elections represent a historic milestone in Plateau State’s democratic journey. For the first time, the state witnessed a credible and inclusive electoral process across all 17 local government areas, without any disruptions, truly reflecting the will of the people.
