The Vwang District Peace and Unity Football Tournament is organised to foster unity, peace, with a special focus on empowering youths. This was disclosed by the organiser, who is the Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Dr Gyang Bere, ahead of the upcoming tournament in Vwang District of Jos South LGA of Plateau State.
He said, “The Vwang District Peace and Unity Football Tournament, an initiative we championed and designed to foster unity among the people of Vwang District, with a special focus on empowering youths.

According to him, “This initiative seeks to harness the talents and skills of young individuals in order to guide them toward personal growth and contributing to the overall development of the community. The tournament was conceived from the pressing need to identify and nurture the footballing talents within the community”, he explained.

“Many youths, despite their exceptional abilities, have lacked opportunities and mentorship to showcase their skills beyond the district.“This event therefore aims to bridge that gap by creating a platform where their potential can be recognized and developed”, he maintained.

“The primary objective of the tournament is to discover talented footballers from the district and prepare them for opportunities with larger teams.“Beyond football, the tournament is envisioned as a tool for promoting peace, unity, and harmony within the community. It aims to foster a cooperative spirit among the youths and equip them with a sense of purpose for a brighter future.

Additionally, Bere stated that, “This event will serve as a platform to educate participants about the dangers of drug abuse and inspire them to pursue productive and meaningful ventures in society.
