The Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Ephraim Usman Gar has commended the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin-Ladi for providing quality education the result of which many of the institution’s graduates are highly placed in the public and the private sectors.
The Commissioner gave the commendation when he received in his office, on a courtesy call the management of the polytechnic led by its acting Rector, Dr. Clement Chirman.
In a statement by the Information Officer of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Edward Bulus Damwesh, it was noted that the Honorable Commissioner emphasized the importance of partnership between the government and educational institutions in enhancing development in Plateau State and beyond, adding that this will go a long way in providing quality training to students, particularly in the area of skills acquisition to help them to be self-employed.
He promised to liase with the chairmen of the 17 Local Government Councils to discuss ways of assisting the polytechnic, particularly in the area of entrepreneurship and infrastructural development. Earlier in his remarks, acting rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Clement Chirman appreciated the Plateau State Government for its support for the educational development of the institution and the state in general.
He sought collaboration with the 17 Local Government Councils in the area of infrastructural development of the polytechnic, stressing that the polytechnic under Governor Mutfwang has been repositioned for optimum performance in the area of entrepreneurship for graduates to be self employed.
