Southern Ijaw Monarch expresses appreciation to the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria – others over support during father’s burial

The Eyewei (V) of Azzuzzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA pf Bayelsa State has expressed deep appreciation for support and show of love his family enjoyed during the period of the loss and burial of his father the Late Chief Kile Torughedi.

In a statement issued by the monarch on  Tuesday 29th April 2025, he thanked Traditional Rulers, Royal Fathers, other dignitaries, guests, friends and well wishers who travelled from far and near to hour his late father.



The statements adds that their presence at the funeral ceremony and other burial rites was not only a mark of respect but a powerful gesture of solidarity and love to the family.

“On behalf of the family of Late Chief Kile Torughedi, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries, guests, friends, and well-wishers who travelled from far and near to honour the life and legacy of our beloved patriarch.”

“Your presence at the funeral ceremony and other burial rites was not only a mark of respect to the memory of a great icon, but also a powerful gesture of solidarity and love to the family he left behind. We are deeply moved by the warmth, the tributes, and the personal sacrifices made by many to attend the occasion.”



“Your words, prayers, and support contributed immensely to the success of the event and brought great comfort to the family in this time of loss. We remain profoundly grateful for the honour you bestowed on Chief Kile and his family through your esteemed presence.”

HRH King Selky also specially appreciated the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria,  Northern Monarchs and respected Royal Father who travelled all the way to condole with his family, as well as those who sent messages.

Recall that Pa Kile Torughedi, passed on 20th January, 2025 after a brief illness and was buried on the 4th April 2025 at his home town in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State. The burial attracted many traditional ruler, royal fathers, powerful politicians and eminent dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.
