Governor Caleb Mutfwang has charged members of the newly inaugurated Plateau State Boundary Commission and Governing Councils of three tertiary institutions to deploy professionalism and their wealth of experience in delivering on their mandates.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Twin Theatre of the New Government House in Little Rayfield, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of their roles in promoting peace, institutional reform, and effective service delivery.
“The State Boundary Commission is a critical institution created by law to prevent and resolve boundary-related crises before they escalate,” the Governor stated. He noted the damaging effects of land encroachment in the state, citing the University of Jos as a case where the institution currently occupies less than 30% of its original land allocation.
Governor Mutfwang inaugurated the State Boundary Commission, statutorily chaired by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Josephine Piyo, along with the Governing Councils of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Vom; College of Health Technology, Pankshin; and College of Health Technology, Zawan.
Addressing the newly appointed council members, the Governor urged them to work diligently toward revamping the institutions for improved performance and productivity. He also called on staff unions within the colleges to channel their concerns constructively through the councils.
Responding on behalf of the councils, Professor Amuga Gideon, Chairman of the Governing Council for the College of Health Technology, Zawan, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve. He assured that the councils would rely on existing recommendations and proven strategies to guide their reform efforts and deliver on expectations.
The inauguration is seen as part of the state government’s broader agenda to strengthen governance structures and enhance development across Plateau State.
