Eid Al-Adha: HRH Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi Urges National Unity, Prayers for Peace in Nigeria

Abuja, Nigeria – As Muslims across the globe celebrate the sacred festival of Eid Al-Adha, His Royal Highness Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi, the Eyewei V of Azuzzuama and the Amananawei of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and the diaspora, while calling for fervent prayers for peace, unity, and good governance across the country.

In a powerful goodwill message released in Abuja on the eve of the celebration, HRH Dr. Selky emphasized the significance of sacrifice, obedience, and faith, the core values commemorated by Eid Al-Adha, urging Muslims to continue embodying these principles in their everyday lives.

“This season reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and total submission to God’s will. I encourage the Muslim faithful to reflect deeply on these values and commit to the ideals of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect that strengthen our national fabric,” he said.

The Southern Ijaw monarch called on Nigerians, especially Muslims, to use the occasion to pray for the nation’s leaders, asking God to grant them wisdom, justice, and compassion in steering the country toward greater progress.

“Let us use this divine opportunity to intercede for our leaders at all levels—local, state, and federal—so they may be guided by divine wisdom in addressing the challenges facing our country,”  HRH Dr. Selky added.

He also underscored the importance of interfaith harmony and collective responsibility, stating that national development is only achievable when citizens work together across religious and ethnic divides.

“Unity is not just an ideal—it is a necessity. I urge all Nigerians to rise above sectarian lines and embrace our shared identity as a people bound by destiny. Together, we can build the Nigeria of our dreams,” he emphasized.

HRH Dr. Selky, known for his advocacy for peace and grassroots engagement, expressed appreciation for the support he has received from various communities and reaffirmed his commitment to networking with Nigerians at home and abroad to advance the cause of national unity and peaceful coexistence.

In his concluding remarks, the royal father extended warm Eid greetings on behalf of his family and subjects, congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of the Hajj rites and encouraging them to keep the spirit of devotion alive beyond the festive period.

“As we mark this important spiritual milestone, may our prayers bring about lasting peace, prosperity, and unity for all ethnicities and regions in Nigeria,”* he prayed.

The monarch’s Eid message has been widely praised as a **timely call to national consciousness** amid growing economic and security challenges in the country.
