Prominent APC chieftain and Coordinator of Renewed Hope Advocates of Nigeria, Comrade Prince Miaphen, has called on the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to adopt a more unifying and strategic approach to party leadership, especially in his dealings with political stakeholders in Plateau State.
In a widely circulated open letter titled “Consolidating the APC Through Unity, Inclusiveness, and Strategic Engagement,” Miaphen urged the APC National Chairman to rise above local rivalries and embrace a national outlook, reminding him that his primary mandate is to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
“As National Chairman, your political horizon must transcend partisan rivalries within Plateau,” Miaphen wrote. “Your responsibility is to consolidate APC nationwide, and to achieve this, you must be seen as a bridge-builder.”
The letter, which was addressed directly to Prof. Yilwatda, referenced a recent radio interview where the Chairman made critical remarks about Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang. Miaphen described the remarks as “unsparing” and potentially damaging to the party’s prospects in the state.
Citing the examples of political realignments under former APC Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as the unexpected alliance between President Tinubu and former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, Miaphen advised Yilwatda to engage in “political accommodation at a scale never before attempted.”
He also offered concrete steps for moving forward:
* Extend a hand of fellowship to Governor Mutfwang;
* Reconcile factions within Plateau APC;
* Focus on national outreach and strategic defections;
* Always consider whether each decision supports President Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid.
“Governor Mutfwang is not your enemy… If courted rather than antagonized, he could become our ‘Wike on the Plateau,’” Miaphen added, drawing a powerful comparison to Wike’s role in delivering Rivers State to APC in 2023 despite being a PDP governor at the time.
The open letter has been met with growing interest in political circles, with many describing it as a timely intervention that could help recalibrate the APC’s approach ahead of 2027.
In closing, Miaphen emphasized that his intervention was made “out of love and loyalty” and not intended as criticism.
“Let us not squander this moment. Let us build bridges that will last,” he urged.
