Plateau State, May 23, 2025.
In a vibrant show of unity and determination, Plateau State Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang hosted delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Nigeria’s North Central zone at a dinner event on Friday evening. The gathering, held at the New Government House in Rayfield, was a prelude to the party’s zonal congress scheduled for Saturday, May 24, where new officials will be elected.

Governor Mutfwang lauded the delegates for their steadfast loyalty and resilience amid political challenges, asserting that the PDP remains a strong and ideologically grounded party. He stressed the importance of rebuilding and repositioning the party for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“Since Nigeria’s return to democracy, the PDP has stood as one of the most organized and people-focused political parties. Despite setbacks, including recent court rulings that affected our lawmakers, our spirit remains unbroken,” Mutfwang declared.
He revealed that a high-level committee, chaired by Senator Bukola Saraki and including himself, is actively working to resolve internal party conflicts and lay the groundwork for a peaceful and successful National Executive Committee meeting, followed by a national convention later this year.

The Governor also paid tribute to the party’s founding fathers, emphasizing their sacrifice and vision, which continue to inspire PDP members today. He highlighted the pivotal role of the North Central zone in sustaining the party’s legacy.
Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, praised Governor Mutfwang for his integrity and dedication to the PDP cause, describing him as a leader “holding the PDP banner high.” Moro referred to the North Central region as Nigeria’s “binding wire,” expressing confidence that unity would drive the zone and the party forward.
Echoing the sentiments, PDP North Central Vice Chairman, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan, thanked the Governor for his unwavering support and leadership, noting the visible positive impact of his administration across Plateau State.
The dinner set a positive tone for the zonal congress and reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to growth, unity, and electoral success.
