Hon Silas Patrick Dung Delivers, Jos South Applauds: School Upgrade Earns Chairman High Praise

In a heartwarming win for education and community development, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government, has commissioned two new classroom blocks and announced the official upgrade of St. George’s Primary School, Rayfield, to a Junior Secondary School—a long-awaited dream for the Top community.



The announcement was made during a colorful event on Friday, with the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Mrs. Kachollom Gang, represented by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Sadia Ibrahim Yero, applauding the Chairman’s effort as a step in line with the State Government’s push for accessible, quality education.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Christy Pam Makut, it was noted that as a proud alumnus of the school himself, Hon. Silas called the upgrade a personal mission and campaign promise fulfilled, pledging continued support to ensure the school’s long-term success.



Traditional ruler (the Gwom Top) HRH Da Cyril Chuwang Pam, joined in celebrating the milestone, thanking Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the approval and recognizing the project’s impact on local families.

In a separate but related development, a State Government fact-finding committee, led by Rt. Hon. Istifanus Mwansat, praised Hon. Silas for fostering a harmonious and inclusive leadership style within Jos South.



During a town hall meeting, party stakeholders and government appointees—including Commissioner for Transport Hon. Davou Jatau, Liaison Officer Rt. Hon. Dalyop Fom Gwottson, and others—testified to the Chairman’s open-door leadership and strong intergovernmental collaboration.

The committee pledged to convey its positive findings to the Governor, encouraging continued diligence from all appointees to support Plateau State’s broader development agenda.
