The Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, has extended warm congratulations to Nigerians at home and abroad as the nation marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a goodwill message released from his office on Tuesday, Hon. Dung described the anniversary as a “profound milestone” in Nigeria’s journey towards unity, development, and democratic consolidation. He noted that the anniversary theme, “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,”
reflects the urgent need for collective responsibility in nation-building.
“This 65th anniversary is particularly meaningful,” the Chairman stated, “as it aligns closely with the first anniversary of the Sei Vwel Administration in Jos South. It is an opportunity for reflection—on our national progress and on the strides we have made locally.”
Hon. Dung highlighted key achievements of his administration over the past year, including significant interventions in healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, security, human capital development, and social welfare. He affirmed that these areas remain central to the vision of a peaceful and prosperous Jos South.
The Chairman also commended the leadership of the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for his transformative “Time is Now” agenda, and expressed support for the national development efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, describing the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” as a catalyst for change across Nigeria.
As Nigerians celebrate the day, Hon. Dung urged citizens to uphold the values of unity, peace, and patriotism.
“Let us unite in purpose, strengthen our communities, and remain committed to the ideals of peace, justice, and progress,” he said.
The Chairman concluded his message by praying for continued peace and prosperity in Jos South, Plateau State, and the entire nation.
