Mupun Nation Rallies Behind Governor Mutfwang for 2027 – say ‘Development Has Spoken for Itself’

The Mupun Nation has thrown its weight behind Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, endorsing him for a second term in 2027 in recognition of his administration’s remarkable strides in infrastructure and human capital development.

The endorsement was made during a colorful rally and project inspection tour of Lankan, Kagu, and Abwor Dyis communities in Pankshin Local Government Area on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The event also featured the unveiling of a massive signpost appreciating the governor’s developmental achievements.

Leading the delegation were key stakeholders including the Executive Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon. Felix Amos Gonung; the Chief Medical Director of Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Prof. Christopher Yilgwan; and the Honorable Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, among others.

Speaking during the event, Prof. Yilgwan said the endorsement was a reflection of the people’s gratitude for the governor’s attention to long-abandoned projects in the area.

“This is not about politics but about development. Governor Mutfwang has revisited and completed projects neglected for years—especially roads and health facilities with direct economic and health impacts,” he said. “Before now, accessing Kagu or Lankan was nearly impossible during the rainy season. Today, movement is seamless, and this has opened up the entire Mupun land.”

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Pankshin LGC Hon. Felix Amos Gonung lauded the governor for keeping promises once dismissed as mere campaign rhetoric.

“We have witnessed the transformation of decades-old dreams into reality. Roads and bridges that once seemed impossible are now linking our communities directly to Pankshin town,” he said. “Our people can now access hospitals, schools, and markets with ease. We have every reason to support Governor Mutfwang for a second term.”

Similarly, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk described the endorsement as a testimony to the governor’s rising popularity and the tangible impact of his leadership across Plateau State.

“What we see today is a clear demonstration of the trust and confidence the people have in His Excellency,” Shurkuk noted. “These projects are just the beginning—Plateau State is on a path of continuous transformation.”

The delegation also paid homage to traditional rulers in the area, including the District Head of Abwor Dyis, Da Thomas Dewan; the District Head of Kagu, Da Dawus Ri Betlong Leden; and Prince Haruna Wale, representing the Mupun Traditional Council on behalf of the District Head of Lankan.
