Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has announced the reinstatement of the dethroned 14th emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamidi Sanusi after signing the Kano Emirates Council law repeal bill. Governor Yusuf made this know in a State-wide broadcast following the signing of the Kano Emirate Council Bill 2024 into law in Kano, the Kano State Capital.
Governor Yusuf consequently gave five emirs appointed under the repealed Emirates Council law 48 hours to vacate official residences and handover properties to state government.
Recall that the Kano State House of Assembly repealed the Kano Emirates Council Law earlier created by Former Governor Ganduje, paving way for the return of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano. Emir Sanusi was removed by former Governor Abdulahi Ganduje shortly after the 2019 General Elections.
