Plateau APC Youths Endorse Hon. Rufus Bature for Second Term as State Chairman and Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman

Jos, Plateau State – In a strong show of support for continuity and progressive leadership within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Plateau APC Youths Vanguard has formally endorsed Hon. Rufus Bature for a second term as State Chairman of the APC in Plateau State and Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda (also spelled Yilwatda) as National Chairman of the party.

The endorsement, delivered during a press conference by the youth wing, highlighted Hon. Bature’s transformative impact on the party since assuming office. Under his leadership, the Plateau APC has experienced renewed vigor, with notable increases in youth involvement, creative campaign strategies, and stronger grassroots structures. The group praised his inclusive style, which has united diverse interests and empowered young leaders to occupy prominent roles within the party.

“Hon. Bature’s vision for a united, responsive, and people-centered APC has inspired us tremendously,” the statement read. “His dedication to youth empowerment, education, and job opportunities aligns perfectly with our priorities, and we are eager to build on this momentum in his second term.”

The youths also threw their weight behind Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda’s national leadership, citing his alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his efforts to strengthen the APC nationwide. They expressed confidence that the duo’s combined stewardship would propel the party toward greater electoral successes and effective governance delivery across Nigeria.

This endorsement comes amid significant political developments in Plateau State. In early 2026, Governor Caleb Mutfwang officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a move welcomed by national party leaders including Prof. Yilwatda. The defection has been described as a major realignment, with President Tinubu hailing it as a step toward deepening democracy and unity in the state. State APC Chairman Rufus Bature played a key role in the integration process, receiving the governor’s membership card and emphasizing harmony within the expanded party structure.

The Plateau APC Youths Vanguard urged all party delegates, stakeholders, and members to rally behind Hon. Bature’s re-election bid and Prof. Yilwatda’s national chairmanship. They framed the support as a vote for sustained progress, youth inclusion, party unity, and the overall prosperity of Plateau State and Nigeria.

“A second term for Hon. Bature is a vote for a brighter future,” the group declared. “Let us stand together to achieve greatness under their leadership.”

The statement has been signed by the Plateau APC Youths Vanguard, reinforcing the growing momentum within the party’s youth base ahead of internal elections and preparations for future polls, including support for President Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election bid.

This development further solidifies the APC’s position in Plateau State following recent endorsements from groups such as former councillors and other stakeholders, who have similarly passed votes of confidence on Prof. Yilwatda and rejected any contrary moves amid the state’s evolving political landscape.
