Mutfwang Tasks New Appointees on Performance & Accountability – Warns against personal interests and Unhealthy Rivalries

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has charged newly appointed Special Adviser and Honorary Special Advisers to demonstrate integrity, accountability and commitment to public service by delivering tangible results for the people of the state.

Mutfwang gave the charge on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during the swearing-in ceremony of the appointees at Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

The Governor said the appointments were aimed at strengthening the state’s governance structure, broadening consultation, improving policy formulation and implementation, and bringing additional expertise into government.

He reminded the appointees that their appointments were not merely recognition of personal achievements but a call to greater responsibility, sacrifice, loyalty and accountability to the people.

According to him, public office must be exercised with integrity, humility, discipline and a commitment to achieving measurable results.

“From the outset, our administration has been guided by a clear conviction: the mandate freely entrusted to us by the people of Plateau State is not a privilege to be enjoyed, but a solemn responsibility to be discharged with integrity, humility, sincerity and measurable results,” he said.

Mutfwang urged the appointees to provide sound policy advice, identify practical solutions to emerging challenges and ensure that government decisions translated into meaningful improvements in the lives of citizens.

He stressed that their recommendations must be timely, evidence-based and guided by the overriding interest of Plateau State.

The Governor also cautioned against personal interests and unnecessary rivalries, insisting that effective governance required teamwork, professionalism and a shared commitment to the administration’s mandate.

“Our administration needs people who can offer honest advice, identify workable solutions and remain focused on the collective interest of the state,” he said.

On security, Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and protecting lives and property across Plateau State.

He highlighted efforts to reinvigorate Operation Rainbow, strengthen community-based security initiatives and train approximately 1,500 personnel as part of measures to address security challenges.

The Governor also listed investments in healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, water supply, sanitation, transportation and road infrastructure as key interventions designed to improve living standards, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

He acknowledged that more work remained to be done and urged the appointees to remain accessible and responsive to the concerns of residents, particularly women, young people, farmers, entrepreneurs and vulnerable groups.

Mutfwang further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding affected communities, strengthening peaceful coexistence and creating an environment where citizens could live and prosper with dignity.

Expressing concern over the fresh attack in Gyero village, Jos South Local Government Area, the Governor described the incident as deeply troubling, especially amid ongoing efforts to improve security across the state.

He called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely, credible and actionable intelligence, including early warning signals, to enable prompt intervention and prevent further attacks.

Declaring that “the Time Is Now,” Mutfwang urged the appointees to deepen their commitment to peace, strengthen institutions, accelerate development and translate the administration’s vision into visible progress across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Chairman of the Plateau State House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Titus Alams, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them.

Alams assured the Governor that the appointees would not take the opportunity to serve for granted, noting that their contributions would form part of the legacy of the administration.

He also expressed appreciation to the state party chairman, the Secretary to the Government of the State, the Head of Service, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, and the spouses and families of the appointees for their support.
