The Plateau State Ministry of Information and Communication, has celebrated the one-year anniversary in office of its Honourable Commissioner, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, mni, describing her tenure as one of transformative leadership and renewed focus on transparency, digital innovation, and citizen engagement.
In an official tribute signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Nanman Jonah Kparbong, the ministry highlighted key achievements under Commissioner Ramnap’s stewardship since her assumption of duties on February 4, 2025. As the second female to occupy the position in the ministry’s history, her appointment by Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang was seen as a strategic move to strengthen the state’s information machinery in alignment with the “Time is Now” administration’s agenda.
Permanent Secretary Kparbong commended the Commissioner’s hands-on approach, noting her emphasis on staff capacity building to meet modern communication standards, reactivation of the ministry’s website in partnership with the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), and the establishment of a state-of-the-art Information Centre that doubles as a multi-ministry conference facility.
Other milestones referenced include sustained Ministerial Press Briefings—where Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) presented scorecards during the administration’s second anniversary—and organized media tours to showcase ongoing projects. The Commissioner has also fostered better synergy between state-owned and private media through retainership arrangements, leading to more professional and accurate reportage of government activities.
“The Honourable Commissioner has led strategic communication reforms, fostered strong media relationships, and ensured accurate information dissemination,” the Permanent Secretary stated in the tribute. He emphasized that these efforts have projected a positive image of Plateau State while supporting the governor’s vision for a prosperous and peaceful state.
Mr. Kparbong, who assumed the role of Permanent Secretary and has been actively involved in ministry engagements (including media parleys and calls for government-media synergy), joined directors and staff in identifying with the Commissioner’s path toward excellence. He extended warm anniversary wishes, affirming the ministry’s collective commitment to good governance and public service.
This milestone comes amid broader state reflections, including Plateau’s golden jubilee celebrations, where Commissioner Ramnap has reiterated calls for unity, tolerance, and collective progress.
The tribute underscores the strong collaborative spirit within the ministry under Permanent Secretary Nanman Jonah Kparbong’s administrative guidance and Commissioner Ramnap’s visionary leadership.
