The Christopher Musa Support Organization has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for approving a salary increase of between 30 and 80 percent for personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, describing the decision as a significant milestone in improving troop welfare and strengthening national security. In a statement signed by the organization’s leader, Ambassador Usman Saidu, and made available to this medium, the group said the salary review would boost the morale of military personnel and reinforce the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of those serving the nation.
According to the statement, the new pay package, which is expected to take effect from September 1, will benefit about 250,000 personnel and increase the Armed Forces’ annual wage bill from ₦660 billion to ₦924 billion. The organization noted that the structure of the salary adjustment gives priority to junior ranks and frontline personnel. The group further praised President Tinubu for translating his support for the Armed Forces into tangible welfare reforms, noting that improved remuneration would enhance operational effectiveness and motivate personnel in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges.
It also acknowledged the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and the Service Chiefs for their continued commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and maintaining national security. “The upward salary review demonstrates that the Commander-in-Chief not only recognizes the sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces but is also committed to improving their welfare through concrete actions,” the statement said.The organization described the development as a timely intervention that would further strengthen the morale of troops and reaffirm the Federal Government’s commitment to making security a key pillar of national development.
