BREAKING: FG Announces ₦50,000 Relief Grant for Nigerians – See  Application Criteria

The Federal Government has announced a ₦50,000 relief support initiative for selected vulnerable households across Nigeria under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

According to a press release attributed to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and dated November 6, 2026, the intervention is designed to cushion the effects of rising living costs and provide financial assistance to Nigerians facing economic hardship.

The Ministry explained that beneficiaries would be selected from the National Social Register and verified national identity records based on established poverty and vulnerability criteria.

It stated that the selection process would cover all six geopolitical zones and that there would be no application or registration process for interested individuals.

Under the initiative, each selected beneficiary is expected to receive ₦50,000 as a direct Federal Government grant, with no repayment obligation or deductions.

The statement further disclosed that successful beneficiaries would be notified through SMS messages from authorised digital financial service providers, with instructions on how to accept and access the funds.

The payment platforms listed in the announcement include ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo PSB, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint.

The Ministry also warned Nigerians against fraudsters who might demand registration fees or promise to influence beneficiary selection.

It advised members of the public never to disclose their Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs) to anyone.

According to the statement, enquiries and complaints may be directed to the helpline provided in the announcement: 0700-022-2222.

The Ministry reiterated that the intervention is intended to provide relief to vulnerable households while promoting transparency and accountability in the delivery of government support.
